Despair is obviously a chapter where a lot of bad things happen. I mean, if I wrote a chapter called "Rapture" where people attempt suicide, what's really to be expected from one called "Despair"?

Usually, the chapters have moments of levity in them. Or humor. Or whatever. But I always envisioned Despair to be the big shitstorm to end all shitstorms. So when I make these updates and constantly say "Yeah, things get worse" well, I'm just starting to feel like an repetitive asshole.

Even more than usual.

After Despair, it'll go back to it's sort of normal "bad things happen, but so do other things, too" motif. In fact, chapter 7 (Sloth) is going to contain a segment involving a very long, philosophical discussion about the nature of Words.

And I apologize in advance for the lack of rape during that segment. I'll see what I can fit in.

Today, Rapture concludes. Find out what happens when Beatrice finds out that her husband has been cheating on her all along! And with her long lost twin sister! Scandal!

Wait, wait. That's not what happens. I think more people just do more dumb things. Yeah, that sounds more accurate.

Though now I suddenly have the urge to write a soap opera. Rats.

This portion of of the chapter begins to take the book in a radical new direction. I thought to myself the other day "Why make everyone miserable and sad and dumb? Let's make them happy!" So, all the characters are now bunny rabbits and they spend all day hopping around in a field of clover.

I am also a liar.

So, do enjoy part 4 of Rapture wherein one of the characters commits suicide! Hooray bunnies!

As per my schedule, Rapture Part III is now online. In it, I find even more new ways to insult an idiot.

We all have our talents.

Chapter 1, Part II is now online and free to all.

Huzzah.

A Kind of Drug, chapter one, part one has officially gone live. The appropriate links can be found (surprise!) under the A Kind of Drug tab in the menu above.

Today's entry is slightly longer than most future entries will be. This is for two reasons: One, I think giving a little bit extra for the first week is a good way to garner future interest in the story. And two, because it's where a very natural breaking point took place in the chapter.

So, please, read, enjoy, and may it make all your wishes come true.

Or, may it at least entertain you for twenty minutes or so.
